As a business, we are very fortunate to have office space in Manchester Spinningfields WeWork. It’s a fantastic space for collaboration and there are some great perks.
Now remote working is more common, it’s worth businesses considering making the switch. A lot of time, effort and resource goes into the management of an independent office — think about all the lighting, air conditioning and computers you have to power.
A shared office space means we’re sharing resources with other like-minded people and businesses with the benefit of all your basic utilities being included. It’s far less expensive and wasteful.
Members of our team do enjoy and make the most of working remotely, and only travel into the office as and when they want — it’s not ever compulsory. We did this before Covid and will continue to do it when the pandemic subsides. We’ve found that this is so much better for a healthy work life balance, and of course with less commuting, it’s much better for the environment. Even when things return to ‘normal’, we’ll maintain this level of flexibility.
We do miss the occasional face-to-face meetings though and can’t wait to see our clients again, but for now, we have everything we need to be productive from a distance. Virtual pitching is a very viable and useful solution. We spoke to PR Moment recently about how your business can make your video calls personal and creative even if you’re not sitting in the same room. It’s definitely doable and saves teams travelling back and forth to pitches.
We are also completely paperless apart from the odd bit of post we receive. It’s easier for us than most to commit to this but it does mean little to no stationary and shared printing facilities in the office for those rare occasions. Everything is on the cloud and accessible wherever, whenever. There’s really no need to have any paper communications, forms or contracts. If you can do everything safely and efficiently online, why waste resources!
We’re still committing to finding new ways to be environmentally friendly and reduce our carbon emissions as a business, and will take on new practices as and when we can.
